Today has been just a beautiful wonderful day! Of all days to run out of
bird food too! I suppose all the ice and snow brought in all the hungry birds
to eat. To compensate for running out of bird food, we dumped all the rest
of the thistle seed from one of the feeders then threw out some oats then
bread crumbs then after all that we dumped out dog food for them not counting
the
peanut butter suet in the feeder. All this food disappeared in no time at
all. Here's a list so far of all the birds we spotted in our yard so far
today:

Carolina Chickadees
Female Downy Woodpecker
Red Bellied Woodpecker but it did not come in the yard
Male and Female Cardinals
Blue Jays
Song Sparrows
Dark Eyed Juncos
House Sparrows
Eurasian Collared Doves
Mourning Doves
Ringed Turtle Doves
Carolina Wrens
Red Winged Blackbird
Common Grackles
Starlings
CowBirds

There's just been too many birds to be counting how many we have had of each
one. No sign yet of our Cooper Hawk that likes to visit his buffet in our
yard and no sign of the Flicker that drops by from time to time. We have got
to get out tomorrow and buy some more bird food. This has been fun to watch
all the excitement but I do wish the sparrows and the starlings would stay
out of the suet feeder. We have been surprised that even the cardinals enjoy
eating out of it.
If this ice and snow is what it takes to bring in so many birds then bring
on more!
