[birdky] Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend

This weekend (Friday-Monday) is the 2007 Great Backyard Bird Count.
Last year, Kentucky birders submitted 668 checklists during the count,
down from the all-time-high of 711 checklists submitted in 2002. That
year, birders in KY reported 115 species, two more than last year. By
getting more folks out and turning in more checklists, can you break the
record for numbers of checklists and number of species reported? It
would be great to see both these records shattered this year. But if
nothing else, it would be great to see KY turn in more checklists than
some of your neighbors (TN turned in 1277 last year, Ohio came in with
2904)
So head out to your favorite winter birding spot, just count the birds
in your yard (or better yet, do both!), and submit your bird sightings
from each location each day to www.birdsource.org/gbbc. And have your
friends and neighbors do the same. Even if they only know a handful of
birds in their yard, they can join in the fun.
Be safe out there...and have fun!
