[birdky] RPT: Gull update from dams

Ben Yandell, Mary Yandell, Hap Chambers, Melissa Easley and myself visited
various points in the Kentucky Dam/Barkley Dam/Smithland Dam vicinity today.
We could not find the 2nd year Great Black-backed anywhere, but we did have an
adult Thayer's Gull and 3rd winter or adult Lesser Black-backed Gull below Ky
Dam. There were also at least 1000 Bonaparte's Gulls feeding on Ky Lake above
the dam, mostly along the old river channel next to LBL. I'm not sure if I
simply missed these earlier in the week or not. There were far fewer gulls at
the dams today; perhaps having spread out on Kentucky Lake in the past few
days; they are running far less hydro thru the dam now.
Other spots we checked had nothing but Ringers and Herrings including Calvert
City pond, Barkley Dam, Lake Barkley above the dam, and Smithland Dam
tailwaters. We had a few Am White Pelicans and common diving ducks on Lake
Barkley.
