[birdky] RPT: Scott's Oriole update

I have just returned from seeing the Scott's Oriole (just 10 minutes
from my computer here at the office!). I was initially confused by ID
because Sibley does not show this plumage; however, it is pretty much
just like National Geographic's immature female. It is definitely a BIG
oriole!

Fran will be leaving for her county school bus route this afternoon, but
visitors are welcome, and her husband David may be around. Miller Lane
is actually only 0.8 mi east of US 127 and their house is (I think) the
second on the left, across from #190 white house on right and will often
have the school bus parked in the driveway. The bird is coming to suet
feeders in the back of the house, which can be viewed from a deck
accessible via a walkway around the left side of the house if no one is
home.

Visitors today need not call; it might be good to call tomorrow if you
plan to go by; and I think they will again be expecting folks on
Saturday so no need to call then (apparently not necessary to go at
break of dawn, as the bird typically does not show up first thing).
Might suggest we should give them until at least 9:00 a.m. EST on
Saturday morning for themselves.

After Saturday, you should probably call before you come just so they
expect visitors.

David R. was arriving as I left so hopefully we'll have some wonderful
photos to view soon! Dvaid Slezak has a number of photos that do show
all the field marks already that I saw on their computer. Let's hope it
hangs around as long as the Bullock's did two years ago!
