[birdky] Longspurs, owl

There was at least another inch or so of snow here last night, calling for
another long snow walk. Near the middle of our block there is a big cedar tree
in an old cemetery. A Horned Owl often roosts there. It was absent this
morning, but some crows soon told me where it was instead. I couldn't see my
camera screen in the snow glare, but thanks to the little coupling ring Dave
showed me how to make, I got one recognizable shot before the crows ran it
further off. The same ring also worked to get a few shots of one of at least 4
Lapland Longspurs that were among many scores of Horned Larks on some worked up
ground. I also got a distant look at a Cooper's Hawk in an isolated brushy
field corner.
