After standing in the cold for an hour and 45 minutes David Roemer and I
were rewarded this morning , beginning at 10 A.M. central time, with
extended looks at the Harris's Sparrow in Daviess County. The bird was in
and out of the cover for over 30 minutes. Birds follow their own time!
After leaving the sparrow we drove over to Peabody WMA spending our time in
the Ken Hopewell section and were rewarded with a nice variety of waterfowl
including the following: Canada, Mute Swan-2, Gadwall, American Wigeon,
American Black Duck, Mallard, N. Shoveler, N. Pintail, Green-winged Teal,
Redhead-85+, Ring-necked, Lesser Scaup, & Common Merganser. Also seen was a
dark Rough-legged Hawk and a Brown Thrasher.
