Upon arrival on Saturday 2/19 for our weekend trip at the Red River Gorge  we 
found an American Woodcock doing a curious dance down the middle of Rock  
Bridge Road. This dance consisted of four or five bowing motions of the  body 
for 
every one very slow step forward. This was at around noon and it was  sunny 
at the time. It was so self-absorbed with its display that I am sure we  would 
have run right over it if we hadn't spied it in advance. A bit later  on we 
found 1 Brown Creeper and 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets along the Rock  Bridge 
loop. 
 The rest of the weekend was pretty much of a wash-out due to  the rain, 
although we did manage to find 1 female Red-breasted Nuthatch (feeding  in 
pitch 
pines) in with the kinglet and chickadee crew at Rock Bridge on the  21st.
