I finally got a chance to go see the oriole today. 
Brainard's directions are perfect.  The bird/feeders
can be seen from the road, but I found the best place
to view was next to the weedy patch with the willows
in it just uphill from where you park.  This was
closer to the action but far enough away not to
distract birds coming and going from the feeder.

As for the Oriole itself, it took all of 10 seconds to
find it sitting in a nearby tree and was visible
almost the entire time I was there (1:00-1:30 EST)
either feeding on the orange halves or in nearby
trees.  Occasionally it sat real still in a tree and
might have been difficult to see had I not known where
it was (back to me of course).
