Brainard,

Thanks for your diligence. Keep us posted. Perhaps some lobbying could change
the situation. Given all the things the legislature does wrong, seems like this
could be a "win, win."

The Ky Transportation Cabinet maintains that license plates will only
last
for five years, so that is why they mandate a replacement after that
amount
of time. All of us know that these aluminum plates will last much longer
than that, but they apparently use the specs supplied by the
manufacturer
(can anyone say job security?). I will look into a contact to whom
people
and can email and send US Postal letters to make a comment about the
discontinuation of the Ky Warbler plate. The legislation that set up
the
license plates stated that there would only be three at any given time
and
that they were to be "cycled" every five years, thus the
discontinuation of
the warbler. Perhaps we can make sure it comes back in 2008.

        February 21, 2003:

While driving from Bowling Green to Russellville this AM, I spotted 8
Wild
Turkeys in a field just east of Auburn in eastern Logan County.

I had to renew my license plates today. I discovered that the Kentucky
Warbler Plate IS discontinued. I had to select from the Cardinal, the
        Bobcat, and a Monarch Butterfly.

I was very disappointed to lose my Kentucky Warbler.
