Late this afternoon we checked out two stand waters in the gamma quadrant (land 
adjoining the north side of our farm). When the first wet spot came into view, 
Pepper (our dog) went racing across the field toward it. Two Sandhill Cranes 
lifted off from this wet spot and headed north. 6 Mallards were at a second wet 
spot further on and escaped Pepper's notice.
