[birdky] Bat sighting

Hello, though I've been monitoring BIRDKY for the last several months, I am
a new poster. I have been working with bats for about a year and thought
you might be interested in the following information. Though in-flight bat
ID can be very difficult, it is quite possible that the bat seen was an
eastern red bat. As for knowing the temperature outside of the cave, red
bats rarely (if ever) hibernate in caves. Rather, those that stick around
for the KY winter, prefer to wrap themselves in the leaves of trees, and can
even be found 'balled' up beneath leaves on the ground. Good birding and
good 'batting'. - William Chelsey Olson
