Katharine,
  Of course I have no idea if you got the right identification on your bat, but 
I do know bats can be seen on warm winter days because I see them around here 
in mid-winter sometimes. I wonder how they know the temperature outside has 
warmed up if it is always the same temperature in the caves where they 
hibernate.
