This winter's vulture roost at Frankfort is currently at a staggering
1100+ birds as of Sunday night. I have not had an opportunity to try to
get a decent count of Turkeys vs. Blacks, but Turkeys may be
outnumbering Blacks 2:1 this year. The Frankfort CBC tallied 399 Blacks
and 372 Turkeys back in mid-December, so it is likely that an influx of
Turkeys has occurred since then due to colder weather. The roost has
relocated this winter to a wooded slope just east of downtown. It is
quite an impressive sight!
