[birdky] ANNCT: Beckham Field Trip to Bernheim Forest eagle area

I am leading a field trip for the Beckham Bird Club tomorrow to the
"eagle area" at Bernheim Forest. Hopefully we will see both the Bald and
Golden eagles that frequent the area. They have not been as conspicuous
in the area this winter, but they are present.

Right now weather appears favorable for some eagle activity; with the
cold weather maybe we'll even be lucky enough to see some cranes moving.
We are to meet at the Shell gas station on the east side of I-65 at the
KY 245 exit (Exit # 112) about 20 miles south of Louisville at 10:00
a.m. EST. However, we will have to leave cars on the opposite (west)
side of I-65 at a Park & Ride lot next to a church. We will leave the
Park & Ride lot no later than 10:15 a.m. EST and the trip is scheduled
until 1:00 p.m. EST.

I'm not sure how high the creek will still be on the back side of
Bernheim; we have to ford it a few times. We will need to carpool due to
parking limitations, but higher clearance vehicles will be the best to
bring. We also might wade the creek if we don't see flying birds in
search of perched ones. This will likely involve wet feet unless you
have some wading boots. I'm not sure if we will try this; hopefully the
birds will be up and viewable at some point during our visit. A scope is
good to have as most times the birds are out into the sky some distance
away.

Participants other than Beckham Bird Club are welcome; notification of
attendance by non-Beckham members via email is encouraged but not
required.
