While participating on the Falmouth CBC on January 1, 2007, I had the good
fortune of seeing three falcon species. American Kestrels were of course seen
throughout the day. While driving the Concord-Caddo Road in Pendleton County, I
found a very cooperative Merlin that allowed excellent looks as it perched on a
telephone pole and in a tree. Later in the afternoon a Peregrine Falcon was
perched on a light fixture on the downstream face of Meldahl Dam in Bracken
County.
