For alll you ivory-billed seekers, see below...

The Charleston Field office is seeking volunteers to assist in on the ground
searches for IBWO in two or more locations in South Carolina. Please pass
this on to any of your staff or other interested parties. Come join a
historic event as the first organized multi-agency search in over 70 years
gets underway in South Carolina! We are looking for biologists that have an
interest and can spend one or more weeks assisting in our efforts. Although
salaries will be borne by the home office, we do have funds to pay for
travel and per diem. Please forward to me any names and dates or have staff
make contact with those listed in the announcements. Thank you for your
consideration.
------------------------------------------------------------
In April 2005, the rediscovery of the IBWO in Arkansas was announced.
Following that announcement, reassessments of historically occupied areas
throughout the Southeast have begun. This process, coupled with sighting
reports in South Carolina from recent years, has spurred interest in
bringing together resources and expertise from across the state in an effort
to evaluate the possible presence of the species in South Carolina.
The South Carolina Ivory-billed Woodpecker Working Group was formed as a
joint partnership between Federal and State agencies, nongovernmental
organizations, and private entities, sharing information and resources
related to Ivory-billed Woodpecker issues in South Carolina. This group is
funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to conduct searches for IBWO in
South Carolina during the 2006 Field Season. Searches will be conducted
primarily on public lands where sightings have been reported (pre- and post-
rediscovery announcement) and where the bird was historically known to occur
in South Carolina.
Attached are the recruitment announcements for detailers and volunteers to
assist with Ivory-billed Woodpecker searches in South Carolina under the
auspices of the South Carolina Ivory-billed Woodpecker Working Group.
Please make sure that these announcements are distributed to interested
parties.
