[birdky] w. Henderson Co. & U'Town Dam

My first birding in about 2 weeks.
1/15 7AM 28º frosty, partly cloudy, later overcast, light wind, temp.
rising to 33º by Noon.
Most shallow water frozen over. Small patches of some snow in the
shadows.
Highlights:
I started at the Sloughs "Wood's Tract" area of Sauerheber Unit.
Canadas
Greater White-fronted Geese
Snow Geese
Tundra Swans 25
Mallards
Pintails
Am. Widgeons
Gadwalls
Shovelers (very few)
At Anderson's Pond I added:
Ring-necked Ducks 200
Hooded Merganser 1
Near Anderson's Pond I saw 2 coyotes.
I then drove by Horseshoe Road slough.
Some water present.
I saw a Harrier cruising over the fields.
Didn't really get out. In an adjacent field Duck Hunters were out so
I drove on.
Next stop was at Grassy Pond/Powell's Lake Unit. Nothing really there.
Next I drove into Union County to checkout Uniontown Dam.
Pied-billed Grebe 1
Canvasbacks 25
Ring-billed Gulls 45
On the way through Uniontown I saw a Eurasian Collared Dove
Next stop: Highland Creek Unit,
Hermit Thrush
Golden-crowned Kinglets 3
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Brown Creepers 2
Yellow-rumped warblers 10
Finally last stop at Highland Creek/Jenny Hole Unit.
I added to my list
Red-tailed hawk that kept hanging around
E. Bluebirds
Rufous-sided Towhee
Charlie
Henderson Co.
