I think many of us feel a bit closer as a birding community because of
BIRDKY, but there are lots of us who really don't know one another that well
except through our posts. When I was up in Boone County on Friday, I learned
that KOS member and relatively frequent BIRDKY poster, Granville Carey,
passed away this past week. At the time it was unclear if his death had been
the result of some heart trouble or cancer. Granville just recently sent me
a photo of the late November Ross's Goose that he took at Camp Ernst Lake
that will appear in the next issue of The Kentucky Warbler. I had only met
Granville a couple of times on CBCs, but his contributions will be missed.
