One point of clarification on the proximity of Peabody WMA to the Muhlenberg
County Spotted Towhee location . . . it is my understanding that the
Gibraltar Unit of Peabody WMA (as shown on the WMA maps that you get when
you get a permit) has been taken OUT of the Peabody WMA. Peabody Coal
Company has apparently decided to retain ownership of that portion. I
believe that the area is still posted and it's of course still on the maps,
but as far as I am aware, it is closed and will not appear on the next
version of the maps to be printed. I had to get special permission to enter
it for the CBC.  That is not to say that one couldn't poke around there
without getting into trouble, but I just wanted to make that clarification.
