I received information today concerning the Trumpeter
Swans that I videotaped at the Sloughs WMA in
Henderson County on 17 December 2002. The following
may be of interest to you.
Two of the birds were wild-hatched by parents which
were descendants from several generations of wild
birds. These birds stayed close, and seemed to be
paired. They have been seen together in Wisconsin for
the past two summers, and expectations are high that
they will become a breeding pair. The other was a
captive-reared bird.
T57 Male wild-hatched at Mead in 1999
T78 Unknown sex, wild-hatched at South Gallagher 2000
H37 Female, captive-parent reared, hatched at
BP-Amoco in 2000, released at Beaver Flowage in 2001.
It was wonderful seeing these magnificent birds in
Kentucky.
