[AZ-Observing] Leonids Display

Hello All;
Even though I had planned for a long trip far from the lights of Phoenix, AZ to
observe the Leonids, it just didn't work out that way. I made a short trip to
a site about 40 miles from the city lights (Table Mesa Road) and had a very fun
time observing an excellent meteor display. There were some clouds and we did
stop observing and pack up because the clouds finally closed in completely at
about 4:10 AM MST.
I estimated that we had about a 30 minute period where we saw 1200 meteors an
hour. We did this by each of three of us observing in different directions and
counting meteors for a minute. Even though the number of meteors was uneven
during the night, it did average the 1200 meteors per hour rate.
The Leonids included lots of great fireballs, many bright, long and impressive
meteors shot across the sky.
I did try some simple, wide angle astrophotos. I will get them developed as
soon as I can.
Great night, I am very sleepy, so sorry if this message has errors. Going to
sleep, now.
