Al,,
When I left the house yesterday afternoon, it seemed that Flat Iron was going
to be a lonely place. Looked like it was going to be me, Steve Perry & His
son and a new club member, Dave (Sorry Dave, I didn't get your last name). Our
arrival was greeted by Rich Payne, who didn't feel like fighting the border
patrol at Sentinel. Soon, several others showed up including Sheryl
Gambardella,
Rich Walker, Andrew Goodwin Frank (I think O'Gorman), and one other fellow
who's name escapes me.
My plan was to give some new, now moiston free equipment a shakedown prior to
All Arizona. Gert now sports a Sky Commander DSC, and after a few tries I
finally got a satisfactory alignment, although I think I can do better. I also
took a few pictures with my new Orion Mini EQ Mount, We'll have to wait & see
how they turn out.
As for observing I finished off objects for the upcoming Call For Observation
columns in Cephius & Andromeda (In the upcoming issue), And then played
around with the sky commander on some H400 objects on Perseus.
Steve & I were the last ones to leave around midnight or so. On the way home,
about 2 miles from Indian School on 355th Ave. we ran into a group of idiots
preparing to run some drag racing, Had to be at least 100 people and about 25
or so cars there. A bit later one of Sheriff Joe's finest was following ME
before turning around and heading back towards the "Gathering." If I'm not
mistaken, Didn't someone run into this about a year ago?
Anyway, gotta get cleaned up for Church. Hope Sentinel & Vekol were good. It
sure was nice to get out again.
