One can also get a good idea of the spottedness from the
SOHO spacecraft images:
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/
The 'MIDI continuum' picture is a good proxy to the visible-light
state of the Sun, which as you can see today is immaculate.
