Well, most of the 15 or so folks who arrived at Cherry Rd II did so under
cloudy skies. I had gotten up in the area about 1400 to do some benchmarking
and actually saw a few sprinkles. Took a 4 mile hike on the road north of
169 and virga was all over to the west. I was thinking a t least I got to do
something fun.
The Clear Sky Clocks had predicted the cloudy skies I the afternoon with
clearing after about 2000, and Attila was right. By the time twilight ended
the skies were very clear, although the seeing was certainly soft. Face it,
if you observe in Arizona in the summer, you're used to this.
I set about my observing list, which was AJ's Call for observations column,
including observations in Aquila & Lyra. I haven't entered my observations
yet, but I did manage to get through the entire list by midnight. After that
I played around with some old favorites, took a look a Mars and called it a
night by 0100.
Everyone in attendance was unanimous in our gratitude to Meteora for making
the clouds go away.
Clear Skies
