[AZ-Observing] Fw: Request for southern observations.

All,
I just received this e-mail this morning. While most of us will not be able
to participate, some may be able to do so. i.e. Chris Schur's recent trip to
Australia as an example.
Jenni Kay is Southern Hemishpere Secretary for the Webb Society as well as
one of the core team members of The NGC/IC Project, so will pass this along
in the event someone else on this list is planning a trip "down under" in
the near future.

Subject: Request for southern observations.
Hi all,
The following message was sent to me by George Kepple requesting
observations from Webb Society members of southern deep sky objects for the
next volume in The Night Sky Observer's Guide. Anyone who would like to
contribute may reply directly to Mr Kepple or myself.
Thank you,
Jenni Kay.

===============================================================
Request for southern deep-sky observations.
The Night Sky Observer's Guide - Volume 3 The Southern Skies is currently
under production. The first two volumes were published in Dec. 1998 by
Willmann-Bell, Inc. These two books cover the northern hemisphere sky down
to declination minus 40 degrees. The third volume will cover the remaining
sky from minus 40 degrees to the south celestial pole.
We are inviting amateur astronomers to submit observations of deep-sky
objects and double stars. If a significant number of observations are
submitted I am offering a free book. The ten observers who submit the most
observations will receive a free book and the others will be able to
purchase the book at cost. All who submit observations will be given credit
in a special contributor section. We would also like to have photograph of
all contributors beside their telescope.
Any size telescope may be used to record observations. The constellations
that will be included in volume 3 are: Aps, Ara, Cae, Car, Cen, Cha, Cir,
Cru, Dor, Gru, Hor, Huyi, Ind, Men, Mus, Nor, Oct, Pav, Phe, Pic Ret, Tel,
TrA, Tuc, Vel, Vol. SMC, and LMC. We will also do an appendium to include
any objects not included in volumes 1 and 2 in constellations that dip south
of minus 40 degrees, so observations in other constellations will be
considered. Please state the size of the telescope and the magnification
used.
Observations may be submitted by e-mail (Microsoft Word attachment is
preferred), or you may simply paste the observations into a standard e-mail
format. If you submit by snail mail, it would be wise to send photocopies of
your observations in case the mail gets lost.
Since the projects has been going on for awhile, we would like to have
completed manuscript in about 12 months so we need your observations within
the next six months. Please send in installments instead of waiting until
the deadline so that I may be working on the observations.
Thanks very much for your consideration.
