Quick question. What source did you use to identify Sh2-142? I took a quick
look at the SAC database and do not find this object listed. The closest I
saw was Sh2-132 which is at the same dec but off in RA by about 30'. Sounds
like an intersting object, I was thinking of adding it to my observing list
this weekend.

Subject: [AZ-Observing] NGC 7380 and Sh2-142
I noticed the image of NGC 7380 in Vicker's "CCD Atlas: North" shows the
cluster enveloped within nebulosity, so I decided to outfit my eyepiece with
an OIII filter and see what materialized. Sure enough, the emission nebula
Sh2-142 was revealed.
Sh2-142 appeared irregular in shape at 63X in my 10-inch, f/4.5 Newt,
covering a 30'x20' area. It was elongated roughly NW to SE with the
brightest
portion centered within NGC 7380. Of the fifty stars recorded in my sketch,
some 10-12 are likely members of the open cluster.
This pair is really a fine site and the experience actually has me looking
forward to observing and sketching the remainder of the H400 OCs.
