It's real easy to get to: From the I17 Willard Springs exit #326, follow 
road west about a mile through the forest until you get to a large
clearing. The County has a black cinder pile in the area I go to.
The paved road turns sharply right, but there's a dirt road for
about 100 yds that leads to the cinder pile and an open field
right there. Schematically:

PS I mentioned this only because some people seemed to be looking 
for options in addition to the Cherry Rd. site.
