I tend to prefer full aperture solar Objective singlet of 10 or more inches
of the plano convev aspheric variety working at f/20 or greater followed by
a heat rejection filter, tilted at about 10 degrees, then a variable field
mask to reject unnecessary heat, then an RG-610 filter for blocking, then a
Schneider Companon enlarging lensthat may be set to any conjugate one
chooses, finally followed by a Lyot-Ohman universally tuneable filter as
described in _Applied_Optics_ in '71 or '72 and either an eyepiece or some
SO film that is a relative of microfile filn and really sensitive to the
red end of the spectrum.
After about 10,000 hours of Solar observing, I have found that generally
the images deteriorate greatly after about 10 in the morning.
Now I need to finish that Lyot Ohman filter.....
