[AZ-Observing] M51 supernova progenitor probably identified

For folks that care about such things, it seems likely that
the progenitor of this object has been identified as a red supergiant.
This is based on HST images with the Advanced Camera for Surveys that
were taken of the right parts of the galaxy as recently as last January.
Within the current uncertainty of the position there is only one star
present on the images (mag 24 on I-band images). Details are on
IAU Circular 8556.
