[AZ-Observing] Re: Good Sunspots

I hauled my solar telescope system out to the porch to have a view of the new
sunspot group 652. Through the Baader filter it is a huge thing, actually 2
almost perfectly round sunspots very close together. I had expected it being so
close to the limb to generate large prominences but I found only a few nearby
ones - still it seemed like the most active side of the disk. The surprise
was the activity around sunspot group 649 with a large area of white flares
that
seemed to change by the minute and look earth directed. These flares were
very white in the Ha filter and must be very powerful. Oh yeah, Geez is it
hot
out there! Jeff Vandecar
