[AZ-Observing] Re: Vekol in jeopardy

I thought this idea had gone away. Wasn't it about a year and a half or so
ago that this was mentioned in the AZ Republic? I believe they might have
even published an editorial against the proposal. There was some discussion
about it on this list, I wrote to the Republic reporter and got a few names
to contact:

What never made sense about this is that there's already a rest stop ~5
miles East of Vekol Rd. (next exit), which, although it doesn't have any
facilities besides verandas with picnic tables, it would seem to be easier
to upgrade this spot than to build a new rest area next door. I guess
whoever wants to develop that rest stop was just waiting for the attention
to die down before giving it another try.
