Dust-storm activity may be kicking up on Mars, as per the following
from an IAU Circular issued tonight:

MARS
     J. Beish, Lake Placid, FL (0.41-m reflector, visual); and D.
C. Parker, Coral Gables, FL (0.41-m reflector, CCD), report that a
dust cloud has formed and brightened during July 1 and 2 in the
Iapygia-Ionium-Hellas region centered at longitude approximately
294 deg west and latitude approximately 25 deg south.

The general advice is to do your Mars viewing _now_, rather than
waiting. Duststorms seem to be the general rule shortly after perihelion,
so though it will be convenient to observe in the evening hours, there
might not be anything to see on the surface!
