[AZ-Observing] Virgo Galaxy Fun--NGC 4216 and companion

Howdy all;

I was doing all the galaxies in Virgo this weekend;-) AND.I bumped into a
fun observation with my 11 inch SCT at 125X on a night I rated 6/10 for
seeing and 7/10 for transparency.

NGC 4216 was observed as bright, large, very much elongated 3X1 and much
brighter in the middle. It is a great edge on galaxy. The other galaxy in
the field (NGC 4206) is pretty faint, pretty large, elongated 2X1 and has a
very little brighter middle. The fun part is--as you give one galaxy direct
vision the other one gets averted and they change their size as you go back
and forth. It was rather fascinating to watch as I moved my eye around the
field.  Give it a try.

Clear Skies;

Steve Coe
