Quite independantly, I was looking into the Garmin GPSMAP60C and GPSMAP76C,
largely in part to Rick's suggestion of browsing the GPS forums at
Geocaching.com.

What appeals to me about the Garmin is the USB connection is apparently much
faster.
Also, many posts in the forums tell tales of the Garmin leading right to a
point without
"boomeranging" you. I realize the whole Garmin vs Magellan thing is much
the same as
Chevy vs Ford, my brother had one and hated/loved it, etc, but these
features appeal
to me. Also, the barometer and compass, to me, do not justify the more
expensive
60CS and 76CS units. (I know how to use a "real" compass, and I tend to be
prepared
for most weather regardless of forecast.)

Anyhow, that leads to my final choice (hopefully). The main difference
between the
60c and 76c is 56meg vs 115meg internal memory. Price difference is $50.
It seems to me that
double the capacity for an extra $50 seems like a wise choice. Be nice to
load everything
I'd need without having to free up memory and reload everytime I headed to a
different locale.

Anyways, thanks for the good info guys, and sorry for the kinda sorta off
topic thread.

Thad
