Hi,
Yep. The Garmin MAP60CS is way cool. I have a buddy with one. GPS envy. I
have a Garmin eTrex Venture. The MAP60CS has geocaching and geolocation game
features that might interest the original poster. Don't know exactly how the
features work, but I did introduce my friend to geocaching. That's how I saw
his MAP60CS. The MAP60CS has an awesome visible in direct sunlight color lcd
display. I am not fast to get excited about every new electronic gadget, but
the MAP60CS did wow me.
I've still being doing the cheap route. I use EasyGPS (free) to save, manage
and transfer routes and waypoints with the Venture. I also use the view
waypoint online feature of EasyGPS to print free maps from www.topozone.com and
free satellite photos from Microsoft Terraserver. Geocaching.com has a
download link for EasyGPS. I use the Venture and printed maps for the same
outdoor activities the original poster mentioned: geocaching, hiking and
off-roading (responsibly :-) ).
Good luck in your GPS purchase!
I guess you can tell the moon is waxing again. This post has not been
astronomy related, but I do save waypoints to observing sites.
Clear skies!

About a year ago, I replaced the Vista with a Garmin GPS60CS. This thing is
fantastic! One feature that was of interest was auto-routing.
