I think I answered this in my reply to Andrew. But to recap, from Topo, you
can upload waypoints & routes. The topo data would need to come from the
proprietary software.

As you saw Saturday the street level mapping was quite sufficient to
navigate in the back woods. I would think topo data would be advantageous if
you had no other way to show elevation data. I just print a topo map from
BRE (with the routes & waypoints displayed) and carry it with me. I also
export a copy of the map to my PDA. Remember Batteries die and things may
work once they get dropped on a rock. A paper map is always good backup

Rick,

When you upload info from Nation Geographic's Topo!, what actually gets 
shown on the screen?
Does this/can you put the actual Topo! map type detail on the GPS?

PS... picked up MS Streets this past weekend in anticipation of this. :-)
