[AZ-Observing] Comet Tempel I

Well, I wasn't able to get out of the house until after dark both Friday and
Saturday, this weekend. So, rather than make the drive to 5 Mile Meadow, I
drove just north of town to the Cinder Hills Overlook at Sunse Crater. Last
night, I observed comet 9P/Tempel I. The observation was made at 10:30 pm MST
(05:30 UT, 5 June). Tempel I was at RA: 12 59 15, Dec: +01 40 30 or about 7'
due west of PPM 159379. The brightest part of the coma extended due south
about 3'.5, fanning a bit to the south-southwest and having a very delicate
filament to the south-southeast. A faint stellar nuclear region was visible. I
used 199X in an 18-inch Obsession.
Regards,
Bill in Flagstaff
P.S. Both Friday and Saturday nights were very clear at Sunset Crater.
However, both nights were rather gusty. I hope the wind was a bit more tame at
5
Mile Meadow.
