[AZ-Observing] Cherry Rd 6/12/04

Had a great night at Cherry Rd Saturday along with a small bunch of other
nice folks. I believe 5 vehicles showed up. Seeing was fair but too fuzzy
for planets or close doubles in my 10" Cassegrain however the night was
excellent for DSOs. It may be my imagination but I think the Phoenix light
dome is even brighter than last year and Prescott/Prescott Valley to the
west seemed brighter too. Still beats staying home by a long shot :)
A new SAC member had fun looking at some old favorites in my scope like M13,
M57, M51, M4, M80, 2CVn, the Double Double and other stuff like that. She
particularly liked Mizar which she saw as a single star naked eye, a double
in the 11x finder and a triple through the telescope.
Three vehicles stayed all night and I had a great time falling asleep in the
pickup bed watching the stars.
I posted a few snapshots of the scenery on pBase and next time I will get
some better night shots when I hope to have a remote shutter release for
longer exposures:
