[AZ-Observing] Re: Venus viewing

Just had a chance to view Venus immediately after sunset in John Kalas'
AP refractor. Wow! A beautifully thin crescent reaching about 240
degrees around the sphere. The planet was visible for about half an
hour after sunset given a good low western horizon.

Is it the fact that it will pass directly in front that make the view so
impressive at the moment? How close to a complete ring will we be able
to see?

Andrew
