It does not appear things are as rosy as the Prescott National Forest press
release indicated. Here is some updated information on the fire. 400 acres were
burned from a fire out of control, and it appears they are still fighting to
control it. Homes had to be evacuated. It may be things are now under control
since this story.

A prescribed burn jumped control lines Tuesday when winds kicked up, charring
400
acres outside the planned burn area near Cherry south of Mingus Mountain.

A Prescott National Forest spokesman says the fire is forcing the evacuation of
about 15 homes. The fire was within a half mile of the homes in an area about
three miles north of Cherry.

Forest officials burned about 4,500 acres as part of the prescribed burn Monday.

No additional prescribed burning is being done, but the fire escaped the
northern
perimeter.

About 100 firefighters are working to bring the fire back under control.
