Subject: RE: [EVAC] Binoviewers at Vekol Road Star Party this Saturday
If you've ever been interested in Binoviewers, this is the weekend to come out
to Vekol Road. We'll have at least 5 different brands of binoviewers available
for comparison on Saturday night (weather permitting). There will be 3 Nexstar
11GPS telescopes set up for side by side comparisons. There are also a few
refractors and reflectors lined up and the binos will be available for you to
try out in your own scope.
The cost: I just want your opinions. I got interested in binoviewers, and since
I couldn't find any real comparison reviews, decided to write one. I'm planning
to write a review for Allister St. Claire's Cloudy Nights web site, so the more
objective evaluations, the better. This can also be published in the EVAC
newsletter.
Binoviewers to be reviewed
B&W Optik (APM-US)
Celestron (Baader)
Denkmeier Deep Sky
LOMO
Televue
Maybe more!
I've got several pairs of eyepieces lined up.
Panoptic 19mm
Photon Super Plossl 25mm
Televue Radian 14mm
Televue Radian 18mm
Celestron Ultima 12.5mm
Celestron Ultima 18mm
Celestron Ultima 30mm
Celestron Ultima 35mm
Celestron Nexstar Plossl 40mm
I'll publish a checklist of tests we'd like to run later in the week. Allister
St. Claire has provided some ideas. And, I'll accept any input as to additional
items to test. Any additional pairs of eyepieces are also welcome!
Clear skies,
Jim Gutman
