REMINDER
Hello SAC Club Members!
The Saguaro Astronomy Club of Phoenix and the Glendale Parks and Recreation
Department will host the 2006 SAC Spring Public Star Party Saturday May 6,
from 6 to 10 PM at Thunderbird Park. Sunset is at 7:15 PM. Come early to set
up and relax. It's not 100 degrees yet! The Moon will be waxing gibbous with
65% illuminated.
NEW: This year will be different in that Park Shuttle vans will be taking
observers to the observing area. Restroom facilities will be available at the
Observing Site, as well as at the front of the Park. The rangers will have the
parking lot reserved for only those bringing a telescope. It is recommended to
bring plenty of bottled water etc. to stay hydrated. Don't forget chairs, and
stepstools or ladders for the little ones.
The main entrance to the Park is on 59th Avenue between Deer Valley and
Pinnacle Peak Rd. Go 1.5 mi. north of the 101 on 59th Avenue turning left
(west) into the Park. Have you posted your flyers and alerted friends,
relatives, and coworkers?
We hope to have a variety of telescopes available for public viewing. We can
show various astronomical objects including the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars,
and selected Deep Sky Wonders. Be prepared to answer questions the Public may
have about the heavens and astronomy in general. Realize that you already know
more than 99% of them and that last 1% we can tackle as a team. Please join us
for a night under the stars!
