[AZ-Observing] Last Night School Party

What a great time at the School Star party last night. Aside from the
bright Phoenix night sky, it was a perfect night, temperature just
right, clears skies and several planets in easy viewing positions.

There had to be a dozen scopes set up and hundreds of kids and
adults. I used a little Meade ETX60 with solar filter to show some
sun spots before the sun got too low. I set it up in polar mode. It
worked well.

I used my 13.1" DOB to view Venus, Saturn and Jupiter all at about
60X. Most folks were amazed at Venus and some thought they were
looking at the moon. I had many return trips to the DOB to see Venus
again and again. I think that was what impressed folks the most.
Venus took rein over Saturn and Jupiter last night.

John Majewski came with me and setup his 8" Meade SCT. He seemed to
have a ball showing folks the planets.

All in all a great time and great night.

Jeff
