Andrew and all,

For the West-siders, consider taking 99th Ave north to Lake Pleasant Rd 
(74), head West just a couple hundred feet to New River Highway. 
This will take you a couple miles North of Anthem into New River where 
you can hit I-17.  Don't know the exact mileage added/saved, or the time
added/saved, but it is less traffic/stress, and gets you clear of Anthem 
which seems to be a problem regarding traffic headed North.
