[AZ-Observing] Re: Comet C/2002 Q4 (NEAT) Observation

Last night from the Phoenix Glare near I-17 and Greenway: Being ~6 degrees
higher up in the western sky helped the view a lot. Estimated coma about a
1/4 degree in the 11x80's with a hint of the fan tail off the coma. And
sometimes (seeing) saw a small bright core. Still couldn't see it naked eye.

Memo to Rick: How can I get to a dark sky with my busy schedule?

Q4 was surprisingly good from urban Glendale in my ST 80 at 30x. The coma
was large considering the light-polluted sky and offset from the stellar
nucleus. With averted vision the coma doubled in size and extended into a
wide and stubby fan. At about 8:45, a Sky Harbor-bound jet crossed through
the FOV. It had a rather longer tail. Ah, the joys of astronomy from the
city.

The view was definitely worth the time spent. Here's to a big outburst in
the next two weeks!

Matt
