[AZ-Observing] Schmidt-Newtonian

I have recently been wanting to get a small scope to take on trips (not
star parties). I just became aware leafing through S&T after returning
from RTMC that Meade makes a 8" f4 Schmidt-Newtonian. This would seem
ideal for my purpose - compact and large field of view for general
viewing, nothing serious. Has anyone purchased one of these, either the
6", 8", or 10", that could give an assessment of its performance?
