I had a TV-85 with a 16mm Nagler T6 set up on the moon last night and truly
enjoyed the views. I also had a 25x100 binocular set up, first on the moon,
but later elewhere and enjoyed those views almost as much. The binocular gave
a more rounded view of the moon and the shadow was more evident as a shadow per
se. During the eclipse, the seeing was terrific and with the binocular I
wandered off and was able to see M51 Mag 12.9, M81 Mag 13.2 and M82 Mag 12.5
with just the binocular and with slightly more than just countour detail. The
stars were really out as the moon light got shut off. It was a great
astronomical evening.
