Howdy all;
Well it would seem that Jimmy Ray and I are both finding out about =
friends
and telescopes this weekend.
At midnight on Friday I slammed my right hand in the door of my car =
while at
Hovatter Road. I started bleeding far more than a stuck pig (however =
much
that is) and warned the three folks across the field that I had a =
medical
emergency and was going to turn on white light; I saw a very bloody =
middle
finger.
Lynn Blackburn, Paul Lind and Al Steiwig came over immediately, put on a
band aid and helped pack up the scope and I got on the road home. My =
wife
took me to the emergency room and I got cleaned, bandaged and received a
prescription for an antibiotic and a tetanus shot. The doctor said that =
I
should have the pad at the end of my finger grow back with no trouble. =20
In the mean time, I have a huge bandage on my middle finger of my right =
hand
and appear to "flipping off" the world. I promise I am not, just happy =
to
have a good result of a bad situation.
You do not realize how right handed you are until it is disabled. =
Typing
this message is a bizarre mix of left hand working in the usual manner =
and
right hand finger poking. Going to the toilet is a true adventure. It
takes five minutes to brush my teeth.
Sometimes in this life a person is left with only a "Thank You" when =
they
mean so much more. Right now all I can say to Lynn, Paul and Al is a
sincere "Thank You" and know that I appreciate what you did for me when =
I
needed real help. I hope that I can return the favor some day. I have
spoken of my astronomical friends as my best friends and now I know that =
to
be even more true.
I also got a nice phone call from Joe Goss to check up on my progress.
Here's hoping that the Saturday night that I missed was a great evening =
of
observing.
Clear skies;
Steve Coe
