Thanks for the report Rick,
I think part of the problem was a late announcement of the star party.
I was committed to a star party in Anthem so I could not make it. The
Anthem Star Party went well, They actually turned off area lights for
us. It was in the community center area. I did not get an exact
count, but I would estimate several hundred people came by. We had
everything from an 80mm Meade (the new one) to a 20" DOB.
I got there early and set up my 6" refractor. I used a sun filter and
we looked at the Sun while it was still up. There are some
interesting sunspots right now, two large ones with several smaller
ones making a trail. The sky was lovely as was the temperature. After
dark we looked at the Moon. What was interesting was looking at the
Moon with binoculars and seeing the earthshine and Pleiades. The Moon
had early passed through the cluster, before sunset. It was a great
star party.
