Here is my letter to the House:
Dear House Members,
Please accept this email as my suuport for SB 1218 aimed at controlling
unneeded night lighting. As you well know Arizona is known for the quality of
it's night sky, which has brought this state a valuble asset in major
astronomical research facilities. If we are to continue to be a leader in
this field, we must preserve the resource that enables Arizona to be on the
cutting edge of this field. The loss to our local economy would be
subtantial.
Another benefit of sensible lighting is the cost savings. properly shielded
lighting saves enregy costs by not wasting electricity on lighting the sky.
Less energy can be used to achieve a more even level of lighting where it is
needed. The cost savings of installing shielded lighting would be recouped in
energy savings in a relatively short time.
In conclusion I urge you to vote in favor of SB 1218.
Thank you for anticipated support
